History of Italo Disco - REFORM RADIO INTERVIEW

The full version of my contribution to the forthcoming radio documentary on the history of Italo disco for Reform Radio in Manchester. The audio is set to a montage of period clips and visuals blended with key tracks. The premise of the interview was a 2020 article in Far Out Magazine and the forthcoming chapter for a book on music and migration. As part of the research I interviewed a number of people including Fred Ventura, Martin Blix, Flemming Dalum, Josh Blaaburg, and Piers Martin. Key themes include the gender politics of Italo and loss of voice, as well as patterns of migration and historicisation.
