In this series I am going to be looking at lost pop classics from the last ten years that, in a parallel universe (where the Eighties never ended), would have been smash hits and on Top of the Pops.
Visitor: Coming Home (Viceroy Remix)
With dead links to their website, Soundcloud and record label, it is difficult to work out exactly who and what Visitor were. The duo, comprised of Australians Kyle Gibson and Lucas Gianello, debuted in 2010 with the single 'Los Feeling', with remixes by Vulture Music founder, French DJ Alan Braxe.
Released in 2012, 'Coming Home' cements Pop Justice's claim that they were the missing link between The Pet Shop Boys and The Killers: euphoric synth- lead, retro-futuristic EDM, with a prowling 80s rock edge. Austen Afridi's 'Viceroy Remix' nudges things up a gear with tropical house sparkle: the end result is one of the most insanely catchy, feel good dance anthems of the last decade.
A lost pop classic, 'Coming Home' is crying out for a video. So, with apologies to Gibson and Gianello, this is a sixty second reimagining of the track, in an an attempt capture the exhilaratingly dystopian aesthetic of the original...
Check out their Spotify page for three other great tracks and remixes by FM Attack and Bestrack to add to your playlists.
